Day 1: Arrival in Paro

Welcome to the Land of the Thunder Dragon and the realm of Dharma. After arrival, gentle acclimatization walk around Paro valley. Afternoon visit to Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest and most sacred temples (7th century). Built by Tibetan King Songtsen Gampo to subdue a demoness, this temple radiates peaceful energy. Spend time in quiet contemplation in the temple courtyard. Evening orientation about the spiritual journey ahead. Discussion on Buddhist principles and meditation basics. Overnight: Paro

Day 2: Paro Spiritual Sites

Morning visit to Dungtse Lhakhang, a unique three-story temple built in chorten style, filled with elaborate murals depicting Buddhist cosmology. Visit Paro Dzong (Rinpung Dzong) and walk across the traditional cantilever bridge. Explore the National Museum housed in the ancient Ta Dzong watchtower. Day 3: Fly to Bumthang

Early morning flight to Bumthang, the spiritual heartland of Bhutan (or drive 7-8 hours if flight not available). Flying offers spectacular Himalayan views including Gangkar Puensum, world's highest unclimbed peak. Bumthang valley (2,600m) consists of four valleys - Chokhor, Tang, Ura, and Chhume. Visit Kurjey Lhakhang complex where Guru Rinpoche left his body imprint in rock while subduing a local demon. Three temples mark this sacred spot. The challenging 4-5 hour trek is itself a form of moving meditation. The monastery clings impossibly to cliffs 900m above the valley. Guru Rinpoche flew here on a tigress's back, meditated for three months, and subdued demons.
